Frequently Asked Questions
ChromaCon provides six categories of service around the Contichrom® continuous chromatography platform: no-charge demos and introductions for teams evaluating the technology; feasibility studies that benchmark CaptureSMB or MCSGP against your existing batch process; process modeling using calibrated mechanistic models to simulate and optimize chromatography processes computationally; custom purification of protein isoforms and variants from your starting material; training and consulting to build your team’s competence on the Contichrom® platform; and a CUBE rental program that lets you evaluate continuous chromatography in your own lab. We also provide preventive maintenance and repair for installed Contichrom® systems.
That depends on where you are in your evaluation. If you’re still learning about continuous chromatography and want to see the Contichrom® system and ChromIQ® software, start with a no-charge demo — on-site in Zurich or via webinar. If you already know the technology and want hard data on what it can do for your process, a feasibility study will give you a side-by-side comparison of batch versus continuous using your molecule. If you want to explore the parameter space computationally before running experiments, process modeling is the right entry point. And if your goal is to obtain purified fractions rather than evaluate a technology, go straight to custom purification.
No. Feasibility studies, process modeling, custom purification, and demos are all independent of any equipment purchase. These services are designed to help you generate data, get purified material, or evaluate the technology — with no obligation to buy a system. If you do decide to purchase a Contichrom® system after a feasibility study or rental, a discount on the system price applies.
Yes — and many customers do. Common combinations include a feasibility study followed by training for the team that will operate the system; a modeling study paired with experimental validation through a feasibility study; or custom purification using a method developed during a prior feasibility engagement. We scope combined projects as a single proposal so you have a clear timeline and budget across all work packages.
Timelines vary by service. Demos can usually be scheduled within 1–3 weeks. Feasibility studies typically run 4–6 weeks after receipt of your starting material. Process modeling studies take 2–5 weeks depending on scope. Custom purification projects range from 2–10 weeks depending on the number of phases. Training programs are typically 1–3 days. CUBE rentals run for an initial period of 2-3 months. Each service page includes detailed timeline information for that specific engagement.
Every engagement is quoted individually based on scope, complexity, and duration. Demos are provided at no charge. Feasibility studies , process modeling, custom purification, and training are quoted per project. The CUBE rental program and preventive maintenance contracts are quoted per system. In all cases, you receive a detailed proposal before committing — contact us with your project details and we’ll provide a tailored quote.
ChromaCon’s in-house services are available to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across Europe.
