What are cookies?

A cookie is a short piece of text file, which is saved from a website onto your computer or mobile device for collecting data which serve to evaluate usage and interaction with this website. Cookies are used to support a more efficient functioning of the website and to deliver information to the website host, as described below.

How are cookies used?

ChromaCon uses the web analytics services, Google Analytics, from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics places short pieces of data or a text file on your computer (e.g. cookies, web beacons) for supporting a more efficient functioning of the website and to deliver information to the website host.

Information about website usage gathered through cookies, such as standard-internet-log-information, including IP addresses, and information about the usage pattern in anonymized form, are transmitted to Google and are saved by Google, including on servers in the USA. According to the use requirements, Google will not link IP addresses of persons with other data captured at Google.

Google Analytics also collects information from users such as age, gender, interests, demographics, how often they visit a website, what pages they visit, and what other websites they have used before coming to ChromaCon’s website.

Google declares, in compliance with its data-protection-shield certification, that it applies the EU-US data protection shield. Google may provide information generated by Google Analytics to third parties, when there is a legal requirement to do so, or when Google has entrusted a third party to process information on its behalf.

ChromaCon reviews the anonymous aggregated data it receives from Google Analytics only to analyze traffic for improving this website and/or improving our marketing.

You may decline the use of cookies by Google Analytics; for doing so, download the Browser-Add-on for deactivating Google Analytics and install it on your computer: Browser add-on for deactivating Google Analytics.

Cookies are also used to capture whether persons have consented, respectively, not consented to the use of cookies through the website of ChromaCon, so that you are not asked again with every new visit of the website.
